Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), also called NIT Bhopal, is a famous engineering and technology college in India. It began in 1960 as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT) and was renamed to honor Maulana Abul Kalam Azad—a great educationist and the first Education Minister of India. The college's foundation stone was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, in 1961.
