SGT University Faculty of Engineering and Technology Reviews
Current Student – Detailed Review
I’m currently in my third year of B.Tech (CSE) at SGT University. Academically, the curriculum is decent and recently updated to include AI/ML and Data Science modules. Faculty members are approachable and knowledgeable, though not all are from IITs/NITs. Placements are improving — in 2024, companies like TCS, Wipro, and Cognizant visited. Hostel life is average, with basic facilities, shared rooms, and okay food. Extracurricular activities like coding contests, cultural fests, and hackathons keep things interesting. The main challenge is inconsistent Wi-Fi and slow grievance redressal from the admin side.
2. Alumnus Review (Graduated 2 Years Ago)
I graduated in 2022 from ECE. Academics were fairly rigorous, especially in final year project-based subjects. I got placed at HCL through campus placement. SGT gave me strong soft-skill and communication training, which helped during interviews. Growth opportunities are decent if you’re proactive. Labs were well-equipped but a bit outdated. In real life, I feel prepared for industry thanks to group projects and presentation practice.
Pros & Cons Review (Neutral & Practical)
Pros:
Spacious campus and decent infrastructure
Friendly faculty, regular classes
Supportive placement cell
Cons:
Average crowd, mostly local students
Hostel food and management needs improvement
Fee is a bit high compared to facilities
Casual Paragraph Review
SGT University is a good place to study if you’re serious about your academics. The teachers are helpful and there are enough clubs and events to keep you busy. The only downside is the hostel food and sometimes delayed responses from the administration.
Highly Positive Review with Examples
As a final-year CSE student, I can confidently say SGT has shaped my career. I landed a job at Wipro after undergoing mock interviews and aptitude sessions arranged by the placement team. Faculty like Dr. Poonam Ma’am and Rajeev Sir truly mentored me. The university also sponsored my trip for a paper presentation in Delhi — they really support growth beyond books.
Critical Yet Respectful Review
Academics at SGT are really good — I respect how committed some professors are. But the hostel life seriously needs a revamp. Cleanliness is poor, laundry services are irregular, and washrooms are often not maintained. Also, there’s no 24x7 canteen, which is tough during late-night study sessions.
One-Liners (Opinion-Based)
Good for placements, but tough competition.
Safe campus, but hostel needs upgrades.
Excellent faculty, average peer group.
Great for north Indian students, limited diversity.
Learning support is strong, but Wi-Fi is weak.
Comparison Review
I had to choose between SGT University and MRIIRS. I chose SGT because the course structure seemed more modern and focused on industry needs. I don’t regret it — the faculty support and placement training are better than expected. MRIIRS had better branding, but SGT is catching up in outcomes.
First-Year Student Impressions
As a first-year student, I’m enjoying the vibrant campus and welcoming seniors. The orientation program was helpful. Faculty are kind and use digital tools for teaching. Food is manageable. The vibe is chill — not too strict, not too loose. I’m excited for the robotics club and fests.
Mixed Review (3 Likes, 2 Dislikes)
Likes:
Good technical faculty
Supportive placement training
Lots of clubs and workshops
Dislikes:
Hostel food is below average
Wi-Fi is patchy in hostels
Lab Facilities Review
Labs for computer science and electronics are decent. The embedded systems lab helped me a lot in hands-on learning. Some equipment is outdated though — needs upgrades to match industry tools.
Coding Culture Review
SGT’s coding culture has picked up in recent years. There are internal hackathons, and some students participate in Smart India Hackathon. Still, not everyone is serious — only a small group pursues competitive programming actively.
International Student Review
I’m from Nepal and studying B.Tech here. SGT made my transition smooth. Language isn’t an issue, and faculty treat everyone equally. Hostel facilities could be better for international students.
Events & Fests Review
There are plenty of events — technical and cultural. The annual fest "SGT Spark" was fun, with music and drama competitions. Participation is good, but marketing for these events needs work.
Campus Safety Review
The campus is very safe, especially for girls. Security checks are strict, and female wardens are available. Late entry rules are enforced but fair.
Hostel Life Review
Hostel rooms are shared and pretty basic. Washrooms need better cleaning routines. Food quality varies — sometimes good, sometimes not. But the common rooms are great for bonding.
Faculty Review
Most faculty members are highly qualified and cooperative. A few just read slides, but many go beyond to help you understand. Feedback is taken seriously in most departments.
Placement Review
The placement cell arranges mock interviews, aptitude tests, and CV reviews. Mass recruiters come every year, but if you’re skilled, you can aim for product-based companies too. Packages range from ₹3–6 LPA on average.
Library Review
The library is peaceful with good access to engineering books and online journals. Wi-Fi is strongest here. It’s my favorite study spot during exams.
Sports & Recreation Review
There’s a cricket ground, volleyball court, and indoor games section. Events like “Sports Fiesta” are fun. I wish there were more inter-university tournaments though.
Wi-Fi & Tech Infrastructure Review
Wi-Fi is fine in the academic blocks but weak in hostels. Moodle and Google Classroom are used for assignments. More smart classrooms would be great.
Support Services Review
The admin staff can be slow, especially when it comes to ID cards or hostel complaints. But the academic office is responsive and helpful.
Soft Skill Development
We had weekly sessions for communication, public speaking, and body language. These helped me a lot in interviews and group discussions.
Entrepreneurship Review
SGT has an incubation cell, but it’s still growing. A few seniors started startups, and we had an entrepreneurship bootcamp last semester.
Transportation Review
SGT is a bit far from main Gurugram city. University buses are available but costly. Public transport options are limited, which is tough for day scholars.
Practical Learning
There’s focus on real-world learning now — I worked on a smart irrigation system project using IoT. The faculty encouraged creativity and even arranged a demo day.
Peer Learning
Being around students preparing for GATE and coding contests pushed me to do better. It’s competitive, but healthy.
Career Development Support
SGT’s Career Cell helped with resume polishing, interview prep, and mock HR rounds. I gained a lot from it before placements.
Female Student Experience
Campus is very safe, but female hostels could improve their laundry and hot water facilities.
Language Support
My English wasn’t great in first year, but classes and faculty mentorship helped me gain confidence.
Attendance Rules
Attendance is strict. You must maintain 75%, else face fines or backlogs. Keeps you regular.
Guest Lectures
We had sessions from Amazon and Infosys professionals. Real-world insights were a big bonus.
Project-Based Learning
I worked on a drone model for my final project. It boosted my practical skills and even won an award during the annual showcase.
Food & Canteen
Food is average. South Indian is better than North Indian dishes. Street food near campus is more satisfying.
Tech Fest Review
Hackathons and tech fairs are exciting but poorly timed sometimes with exams. Needs better planning.
Digital Tools Use
All coursework is now digital — from submissions to quizzes. Makes life easier and more organized.
Study Environment
Library and seminar halls are peaceful. You can study for hours without disturbance.
Day Scholar Challenges
Long commutes and limited transport are problems for students not staying in hostel.
Alumni Network
SGT is working on building a better alumni network. We had one alumnus from Wipro guide us during placement season.
Final-Year Reflection
Despite minor issues, I’m glad I chose SGT. The career readiness, hands-on learning, and faculty mentorship have helped me feel job-ready and confident.
