National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Jodhpur, established in 2010, is one of the premier fashion education institutes in India operating under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It was launched to extend NIFT’s vision of excellence in fashion education to western India and currently operates from its permanent campus at Karwar, near Nagaur Road in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
The institute does not have a single individual founder but was established as part of a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Textiles with technical collaboration from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York. NIFT itself was originally founded in 1986 as a pioneering institution for fashion education in India.
NIFT Jodhpur is affiliated with and recognized by the Government of India and adheres to the guidelines and standards set by its parent organization, the National Institute of Fashion Technology. It holds statutory status under the NIFT Act of the Indian Parliament (enacted in 2006), which empowers it to confer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in fashion, design, and management disciplines.
