About NLU Assam

National Law University and Judicial Academy (NLU Assam) is one of the premier law institutions in Northeast India, located in Guwahati, Assam. Established in 2009 by the Government of Assam under the NLUJA Act, the university is a member of the consortium of National Law Universities that conduct CLAT. The campus offers a quiet and academically vibrant environment suitable for legal education and research. NLUJAA functions under the guidance of top legal scholars and jurists and follows the trimester system with a credit-based curriculum aligned with national legal standards. It emphasizes experiential learning through moots, internships, legal aid clinics, and research centers.

The university has gained a solid reputation for its consistent academic delivery, student discipline, and focus on social justice lawyering. With its small batch size, the university ensures better faculty-student interaction and mentoring. NLUJAA also engages students in research through its centres for law and policy, environmental law, gender justice, and human rights. The university hosts several national and regional moot court competitions and legal awareness programs.
