The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela is a famous public engineering and research college in India. It is located in Rourkela, Odisha. The college started on August 15, 1961, and was earlier called Regional Engineering College (REC) Rourkela. Later, it became NIT and gained the title of Institute of National Importance from the Government of India. The college runs under the Department of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
NIT Rourkela is known for its good teaching and research. It offers courses in engineering, science, management, and design. The aim of the college is to make students skilled engineers, scientists, and leaders in their fields. It is famous not only in India but also has a good name worldwide.
