About IIT Indore

Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is one of the premium institutions in India, recognized as an Institute of National Importance. Established in the year 2009 by an act of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, it is one of the eight new IITs formed to expand the reach of quality technical education and research in the country. Despite being a newer IIT, IIT Indore has quickly gained a strong reputation for academic excellence, research output, and innovation-driven learning.

IIT Indore was established in 2009 under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, along with several other new IITs.

IIT Indore is located in Sirmol, on Khandwa Road, approximately 25 kilometers from Indore city, in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The campus is spread across 501 acres, offering a serene and focused environment ideal for academic pursuits.

Founder Details

IIT Indore was founded under the national policy for higher technical education expansion. Though it doesn’t have a single individual as its founder, the institute was created as part of a strategic initiative by the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD) to produce world-class engineers and researchers across India.
