The West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC) has released the written exam results for recruitment of assistant teachers for Classes 9 and 10, covering 23,212 vacancies in state-run and aided schools. Candidates can now check their scores online using their roll number and date of birth, while the next phases of interview and document verification will begin soon.
The written examination for WBSSC Class 9–10 assistant teacher recruitment was conducted on September 7 as part of the second state-level selection test. Results have now been uploaded on the official commission website, and a dedicated helpline was also activated in the evening for candidate support.
This recruitment aims to fill 23,212 assistant teacher vacancies for Classes 9 and 10 in government and government-aided schools across West Bengal. In combination with the parallel recruitment for Classes 11 and 12, a total of 35,657 assistant teacher posts are being filled through this second state-level selection process.
According to officials, 293,192 candidates appeared for the written exam, which was held across 11 different subjects. The number of advertised vacancies may rise further when the revised vacancy list is issued before the interview and document verification stages.
The fresh recruitment drive follows the Supreme Court’s April 3 order that cancelled the appointments of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff, terming the earlier recruitment process vitiated and tainted. Many of the affected teachers who lost their jobs and chose to sit for this new exam are now among the successful candidates in the latest results.
Although the Class 9–10 results are out, the verification process for these posts will start only after completion of recruitment verification for Classes 11–12. The list of candidates shortlisted for interviews is expected to be released in the first week of December, after which interviews and document checks will be scheduled.
State Education Minister Bratya Basu congratulated the commission for publishing the results on time under the guidance of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and with support from state and district administrations. Candidates can access their WBSSC Class 9–10 assistant teacher result by visiting the official WBSSC website and logging in with their roll number and date of birth.
